THE MEANING OF BAPTISM

A baptism is an identification event. Going under the water symbolizes the death of Christ. Coming up out of the water represents the resurrection of Christ. When we go under the water, it’s symbolic of the fact that we have died to ourselves and self-centered living. When we come back out of the water we are symbolizing our new life in Christ!

Romans 6:4, “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”

Celebrate Your Faith

If you’ve decided to follow Christ, baptism is one of the most meaningful next steps you can take. Baptism is a public celebration of your decision to follow Christ. Here at Faith Assembly Churches, we encourage people to understand the significance of baptism and to share the joy with friends and family.

Simply bring an extra pair of pants that you don’t mind getting wet, a change of undergarments, a towel, and a plastic bag for your wet clothes. We’ll provide a t-shirt for you to wear at the time of your baptism, and you can keep it to remember your decision to follow Christ.
